Justine Loewenthal is registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Registered Counsellor and an EEG Technician. She studied through UNISA, where she completed a BA in Psychology and Criminology and an Honours Degree in Psychology. She trained through EEG Spectrum International in Neurofeedback in 2002 and regularly attends advanced training courses, workshops and conferences presented locally and internationally by experts in the field to advance and add to her skills.

Justine offers routine EEGs, Quantitative EEG analysis, neurofeedback, biofeedback and counselling to adults and children. Justine is passionate about her work and understands well the intricate reciprocal relationship between optimal brain functioning and healthy emotional and behavioural regulation, and therefore finds immense value in the application of Quantitative EEG and Integrative Neuroscience. She uses a holistic approach in assisting her clients, often using a combination of interventions including neurofeedback, biofeedback techniques, counselling and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy principles and skills.

Justine has experience with a wide range of difficulties, and has a special interest in:

• the impact of trauma on brain function, especially developmental trauma
• improving attention and memory
• optimising scholastic functioning
• assisting with adjustment to change
• managing anxiety and stress
• optimising sleep quality and improving sleep patterns
• Sensory Processing Disorders
• the impact of developmental and behavioural challenges in the family on the family system

Justine has contributed to books, magazines and newspaper articles and has appeared on television programs focusing on family relationships.

From 2016 – 2017, she was a member of the Executive Board of the Biofeedback Association of South Africa, fulfilling the positions of Secretary and Treasurer. From 2017 – 2022, she fulfilled the position of Treasurer.

She is a member of The International Society for Neurofeedback and Research (ISNR), and an Affiliate of EEG Spectrum International.

Justine has been internationally certified in Neurofeedback by the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA).

She is also recognised as a fully endorsed member of the DBT Institute of South Africa.

Justine is a registered mentor with BCIA and offers supervision to those who would like to become internationally certified in neurofeedback.
